Soil -
Soil at the tropical rainforest is very variable. Some ares have very poor soil and infertile while other areas have fertile soil. The poor soil is caused by the rainfall all year long which washes out the nutrients from the soil. Another reason is because these soils in the rainforest is almost 100million years old. Though the nutrients are really poor, in the tropical rainforest plants get nutrients from itself. Dead plants are also resource of nutrients for other plants. Plants reuse the nutrient from it.
The soils are put into two classifications, Ultisols and Oxisols. The Ultisols is a well weather soil, acidic red clay soil. This soil contains some nutrients of calcium and potassium. Similar to that Oxisols has a reddish color. It is also very weathered and it is very leached. However, this soil is well drained and is easy for water to go through.
